The Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) has expressed its sincere gratitude to renowned singer-songwriter and businessman Jose Mari Chan for his unwavering commitment to supporting their various socio-civic and charitable initiatives.
For over four decades, Chan has been a vital partner in the federation’s efforts to uplift Filipino communities in need.
Dr. Cecilio Pedro, President of FFCCCII, praised Chan’s long-standing contributions during a recent event, emphasizing his dedication not only as a musician and businessman but also as a philanthropist. Chan has supported numerous FFCCCII programs, including calamity relief, medical missions, scholarship grants, and rural school-building projects. He has also been a strong advocate for Filipino-Chinese volunteer fire brigades, which assist victims of disasters regardless of their background.
“We’re both served in the Ateneo scholarship foundation. We help provide scholarships because many want to study at Ateneo, but tuition is expensive,” said Dr. Pedro. He added that approximately 21% of Ateneo’s student population has benefited from the scholarship program over the years.
The FFCCCII has also been building classrooms for more than three decades. As of now, they have constructed over 6,500 classrooms in schools that are in need of proper facilities. According to Dr. Pedro, the FFCCCII will continue to focus on addressing these educational needs in underserved areas.
In response to the devastation caused by recent typhoons, FFCCCII, in partnership with the Filipino at Tsino Magkaibigan Foundation, allocated between P60 to P65 million to provide rice and other relief supplies to communities affected by the disasters. The group has distributed aid to several provinces, including Bicol, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Metro Manila.
As the Christmas season approaches, FFCCCII remains committed to assisting Filipino families in need.
Speaking about the media’s important role in spreading positivity, Dr. Pedro remarked, “Media personnel are the hope of the nation because you bring good news. You bring joy to many Filipino families. You’re the true heroes of the Filipino people, and we deeply appreciate everything you do.”
Dr. Pedro, who is also the president and CEO of Lamoiyan Corporation (makers of Hapee Toothpaste and Dazz Dishwashing Paste/Liquid), emphasized the importance of showbiz partnerships and highlighted the federation’s commitment to supporting the entertainment industry, which includes working with prominent celebrities and media personnel.
