Veteran actor John Arcilla has broken his silence regarding the controversy involving Kapamilya stars Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings, voicing his thoughts in a Facebook post that has since gone viral.
Arcilla expressed unease about the public scrutiny of private conversations, highlighting the discomfort he felt while reading the leaked screenshots shared by Anthony’s ex-girlfriend, Jam Villanueva.
“May nagtanong kasi sakin. Eto sagot ko: ayoko manghusga. Hindi ko nabasa lahat. Nagsisimula pa lang ako nakaramdam na ako ng hiya sa sarili ko Bat ba ako nagbabasa ng isang private na convo? Sabihin ng OA, pero awkward yung pakiramdam,” Arcilla wrote.
In his post, Arcilla raised suspicions about the intent behind the leaks, suggesting that they may have been premeditated.
“May mali eh. Anong pakay? Parang may plano, parang may hindi magandang balak,” he added.
Arcilla further scrutinized the situation, particularly Anthony’s actions, which he suggested showed manipulation and a lack of regard for the women involved.
“Habang may tino-torture kang gf dahil binigyan mo naman ng access sa cp mo (?) sa isang banda may ine-expose ka or may balak ka naman i-blackmail na isa pang babae (?) parang nasa gitna ng pag-expose at kunwaring pag-gaslight (?) parang mayroong laro eh,” he wrote.
The veteran actor ultimately labeled one party as the instigator of the chaos. “Tingin ko lang may isang kolokoy na nag-take advantage ng lahat with confidence and a disguise of being cool Yun lang✌.”
Arcilla’s post resonated with many netizens who commended him for his candid yet thoughtful take on the issue.
The controversy erupted on December 3, 2024, when Jam Villanueva released screenshots of sweet exchanges between Anthony and Maris. Villanueva claimed the messages were evidence of emotional cheating, which ultimately led to her breakup with Anthony.
In separate interviews on December 6, Maris denied knowing that Anthony was still in a relationship while they grew close. Anthony, meanwhile, issued a public apology to both Maris and Jam, admitting he had caused them pain.
