Singer-actress Gigi De Lana is reportedly facing challenges in her television career due to an alleged contract breach with ABS-CBN’s Star Magic.
According to showbiz insider Ogie Diaz, Gigi has been unable to appear on major networks, including ABS-CBN and GMA Network, due to complications stemming from her contractual obligations.
In the December 22 episode of ‘Showbiz Updates’, Ogie shared details about the issue:
“Ang tsika, nag-breach daw ng kontrata sa Star Magic si Gigi. Nagsarili. Hindi finulfill ang kaniyang obligasyon sa pinirmahang kontrata,” he claimed.
The alleged breach reportedly involved Gigi taking on independent projects without informing Star Magic, which manages her career.
“Gustong i-promote ni Gigi ang bago niyang song. Pero banned na nga ba ito sa ABS-CBN? Pati rin daw sa GMA, hindi raw maka-penetrate itong si Gigi,” Ogie added, suggesting the controversy has affected her ability to promote her latest single on television.
Ogie noted that other networks might be hesitant to work with Gigi, fearing potential repercussions tied to her existing contractual obligations.
As of now, neither Gigi nor her management has issued a statement regarding the allegations. Star Magic and Rise Artists Studio have also remained silent on the matter.
This reported controversy comes after a personally challenging year for Gigi. In May, she lost her mother while performing on an international tour in Canada. Despite her loss, Gigi has continued to engage with her fans and promote her music.
Ogie expressed hope that Gigi would address the issue soon, noting that ABS-CBN is typically open to discussions about resolving contract disputes.
