Rufa Mae Quinto stuns viewers with a Booba-like performance in Fresca Tuna’s digital film “Gold.”
In the tongue-in-cheek mockumentary, Rufa Mae plays the character of Luffa May, a woman with a faux sickness called ‘Di Sulit Hypersensitivity (DSHS), which makes her itchy when she sees or touches anything that’s not sulit (worth the price).
‘Gold’ is produced in partnership with independent creative shop Leron Leron Sinta.
“The digital film sets the tone for how Fresca wants to connect with its audiences. We took inspiration from how Filipinos always strive to get the most value for their money,” says Varge Pollins Masanque, one of the Founding Creative Partners of Leron Leron Sinta.
“With Fresca Tuna being a sulit brand, we wanted their social media debut to stand out by blending our signature masa-inspired humor with their strong reasons to believe. Adding Rufa Mae Quinto—an icon beloved by the masses—was the perfect touch, creating a relatable, memorable, and truly masa film,” Masanque added.
The film has garnered over 15 million views barely a week after it was posted on Facebook. One user commented, “Nice ad! Funny and relevant. Dapat sa sulit lang talaga lagi, kasi ang mahal na ng mga bilihin! (With skyrocketing prices of consumer goods, smart spending should be the trend.)”
