Actor and model Daniel Matsunaga is eager to make his teleserye comeback, sharing his hopes for a meaningful role in the near future. Best known for his performances in ABS-CBN dramas such as ‘Be My Lady’ (2016), ‘A Love to Last’ (2017), and ‘Halik’ (2019), Matsunaga’s last TV appearance was in a brief role for the latter.
“I do (miss doing teleseryes). Sana magkaroon ako ng bagong teleserye na para sa akin. Feeling ko ‘yung role na very important. I’m still waiting for that,” he shared during a press conference on November 30 at F1 Hotel in BGC, Taguig.
Daniel, who has lived in the Philippines for 16 years, considers the country his home. He expressed deep gratitude for the opportunities and success he has achieved in the local entertainment industry.
“Lahat ng opportunities na nangyari sa buhay ko ay nangyari sa Pilipinas. I’m very thankful. It’s my home,” he said, adding that his businesses are also flourishing alongside his acting career.
Reflecting on his journey, Daniel recalled how his life transformed after winning ‘Pinoy Big Brother: All In’ in 2014. “It’s been 10 years since I won PBB. It was a great journey. It completely transformed my life. I’ve been in showbiz for 15 years,” he shared.
He also took time to commend his fellow ‘PBB’ housemates, acknowledging their current successes. “We are like brothers and sisters. I’m quite pleased with all of their achievements,” Daniel added.
While waiting for his next acting project, Daniel has kept himself busy with a variety of endeavors. He recently completed a film in Dubai, which featured a Filipino production team and local talents.
“I finished a movie in Dubai. Filipino production siya sa Dubai. Locals sa Dubai ang kasama,” he revealed. Apart from acting, he continues to grow his businesses and participate in events across the country.
On his birthday, Daniel was introduced as the official ambassador of Awesam Smile Dental Clinic, a brand founded by Dr. Samantha Go Bernardo. The clinic focuses on innovative and accessible dental care, blending advanced technology with patient-centered service.
“15 years na siya sa showbiz industry and kilala na siya ng mga tao. Magiging helpful siya sa dental education and awareness,” Dr. Bernardo said during the event.
Daniel expressed excitement about promoting the clinic’s new mobile app and upcoming HMO platform, which aim to make dental care more convenient for Filipinos.
In addition to his career milestones, Daniel shared that his love life is also thriving. “Very happy. She’s Brazilian. Almost one year na kami,” he said of his relationship.
