Senator Bong Revilla Jr. recently opened up about the career setback he faced after an accident earlier this year that caused the delay of his highly anticipated ‘Alyas Pogi’ project.
The action-packed film was set to be part of the 50th anniversary of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), but Revilla was forced to put the project on hold due to a serious injury.
In April, Revilla suffered a torn Achilles tendon while filming, which required surgery and several months of recovery. This delay caused the ‘Alyas Pogi’ movie to miss the MMFF deadline, much to his disappointment.
“Dapat my entry ako diyan, dahil usually every year may entry tayo diyan,” Revilla shared, referring to his regular participation in the prestigious film festival. “Pero ‘yon nga, nagkaroon ng aksidente, naputulan ako ng Achilles tendon. Luckily, I was able to recover nang ganitong kabilis. Pero kung gagawin ‘yung ‘Alyas Pogi,’ hindi pa rin abot sa MMFF deadline.”
Despite this setback, Revilla remains optimistic and grateful for the opportunity to continue his career in action roles. He has been busy filming the third season of his successful action series ‘Tolome! Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis’ on GMA Network. Revilla is known for performing his own stunts, and he recently impressed fans with his physical performance in the series.
Recalling a moment on set when he fell during a stunt, Revilla assured his team, “Sabi ko, I’m okay.” He added that after receiving approval from his doctors, he no longer faces any limitations in performing action scenes.
Reflecting on his accident and recovery, he admitted, “Akala ko no’ng time na ‘yon, katapusan na ng career ko. Pero hindi. Binigyan pa rin ako ng pagkakataon ng Diyos na makagawa ng magagandang proyekto kagaya nito at marami pa.”
The third season of ‘Tolome! Walang Matigas na Pulis sa Matinik na Misis’ will premiere on December 22 and air every Sunday at 7:00 PM on GMA Network.
