Renowned OPM icon Boboy Garrovillo, a member of the iconic trio APO Hiking Society, recently addressed questions about Jim Paredes’ past video scandal and shared touching memories of their late bandmate, Danny Javier.
Boboy made these revelations during his guest appearance on the GTV cooking talk show ‘Lutong Bahay’ hosted by Mikee Quintos.
During the show’s “Kitchen-terrogate” segment, Boboy was asked if he felt upset or disappointed by Jim’s involvement in the controversial incident. Initially hesitant, he eventually gave a candid response to avoid the segment’s sour food challenge.
“Sige. Nagalit ako. Wala na ha!” Boboy admitted, quickly moving on from the topic.
When asked to name an actor he would prefer not to work with again, Boboy refrained from giving a direct answer but left an intriguing clue.
“Gusto kong sabihin pero ayaw ko. Ibubulong ko na lang sa inyo pagkatapos,” he teased, later hinting that the actor’s initials start with “W.”
In a heartfelt moment, Boboy reflected on the absence of their late bandmate, Danny Javier, who passed away in 2022. He spoke of Danny’s crucial role in their performances and how the group felt his absence during their concerts.
“I really miss you, especially when we have very, very successful shows. We wish we could share it with you. I’m sure, tumatalun-talon ka rin sa langit,” Boboy shared emotionally.
He further described the void Danny left in their dynamic:
“For 45 years, we’ve been performing together. Siya ‘yung spokesperson namin sa stage—lahat ng banter, katuwaan, at gimik nasa kanya. Ngayong kami na lang ni Jim, parang may nabubungi sa spiels namin.”
Boboy highlighted the group’s unity and why they chose not to pursue solo careers during their peak years.
“Kasama namin siya noong we were building the APO Hiking Society to something greater than us. Kaya hindi kami nagso-solo. Ang lakas namin kapag magkakasama kami.”
Boboy’s reflections underscore the enduring legacy of the APO Hiking Society and the profound connection among its members. Despite the challenges and losses they have faced, their music and camaraderie continue to resonate with fans across generations.
