The controversy began when Jam Villanueva, Anthony’s ex-girlfriend, shared screenshots that suggested an affair between Anthony and Maris. The incident sparked mixed reactions, with critics calling out Maris, while others, including industry professionals, rallied behind her.
Direk Benedict, who worked with Maris on the YouTube series ‘How to Move on in 30 Days’, took to Facebook to share his thoughts on the issue.
“They are all young and immature and they made mistakes. They also deserve the repercussions of their actions. But in the end they also deserve another chance,” he wrote.
The director praised Maris for her professionalism and talent, describing her as a “kind and hardworking actress” who strives to support herself and her family.
“She deserves what she has now and I hope we all give her a chance to show us more of her talent in the future. And just like each and every one of us she works hard to survive for herself and her family so lets not deprive her of her livelihood and passion,” he added.
Direk Benedict also urged people to be more compassionate, saying, “Pag nasa baba na ‘yung tao wag mo na sipain at batuhin. Walang masama sa pagiging mabuti.”
