Veteran actress and the Star for All Seasons, Vilma Santos, has expressed her excitement for her upcoming movie, ‘Uninvited,’ which is part of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 lineup.
During the film’s grand trailer launch and media conference held at the Solaire Resort Casino and Hotel on November 20, Santos shared how she immediately wanted to begin shooting upon learning that her co-stars include Aga Muhlach and Nadine Lustre.
Santos: “Let’s Start Shooting!”
“When I heard that Aga and Nadine were part of the cast, I couldn’t contain my excitement,” Santos said. “I even told Aga not to turn this project down, or else I’d be upset.”
She also praised Lustre, calling her a “dedicated and talented actress,” and expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with both artists.
Santos described ‘Uninvited’ as a “dream project,” revealing that its unique premise — a story unfolding in a single location over 24 hours — aligns with a vision she had years ago.
“More than 30 years ago, when I was asked what kind of film I’d like to direct if given the chance, I said it would be something like this. That’s why this project feels so personal and exciting for me,” Santos explained.
The actress also noted how much she enjoyed portraying a dark character in the film. She likened the experience to her critically acclaimed role in ‘Tagos ng Dugo,’ marking her return to a grittier portrayal on-screen.
Directed by Dan Villegas, ‘Uninvited’ is a psychological thriller delving into family secrets and horror, all taking place during a single 24-hour party. The film’s intense plot promises suspense and drama, offering a unique experience for moviegoers this MMFF season.
The movie is co-produced by Mentorque Productions, the company behind the MMFF 2023 hit ‘Mallari,’ and Project 8 Projects, known for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2024 entry Sunshine.
Aside from Santos, Muhlach, and Lustre, the film features a stellar supporting cast, including Mylene Dizon, Lotlot de Leon, Elijah Canlas, and Gabby Padilla.
Santos is optimistic about the film’s reception during the holiday festival. “This project is special to me, and I hope audiences will appreciate its story and performances,” she said.
