The Pinoy Playlist Music Festival (PPMF) 2024 will resound with the theme “Tuloy ang Musika, Tulay ng Buhay” as it will serve as the musical bang to signal the start of BGC’s Passionfest 2024 themed “Passions as Bridges”.
Over the years, BGC’s Passionfest has celebrated the many ways that passion has fueled people and communities to do extraordinary work and flesh-out lives that have inspired many.
This year from Nov 15 to Dec 1, the overarching theme will be on how our passions serve as bridges to many other passions, disciplines and communities to make for fuller lives, thus, “Passions as bridges.” In various parts of BGC, Passionfest will take on projections of Filipino contemporary visual art, as well as art talks, artisan marts, community art installations, and art workshops, among many other exciting offerings.
PPMF, now on its 7th year, has always espoused a full Pinoy musical menu as possible. This year, it will feature over 300 artists in over 50 performances, across genres and generations, from established masters to contemporary and emergent artists, from soloists to duets, bands, to choirs and orchestras, to collaborations between fashion, improv and music. PPMF attendees can come and enjoy performances by their favorite artists and also discover new
Pinoy artists and genres at the BGC Arts Center’s Globe Amphitheater, Sun Life Amphitheater, Zobel de Ayala Recital Hall and at 5th Avenue Bonifacio High Street. Also this year, accompanied by the music that will literally move you, there will be community street dancing on 5th Avenue to orchestral music by the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra and AMP live band music for everyone, including a showcase of Korean and Filipino percussionists, and Stell of SB19 with a special performance with Maestro Ryan Cayabyab. There will also be PPMF conversations about hot music topics such as emerging Filipino music and longevity in the music industry, and a keen look at Philippine musical theater.
Check out this year’s artist line up: www.bgcartscenter.org/ppmf2024 And as in previous years of PPMF, musical artists who have created an extraordinary body of work in musical fields that National Artist for Music Ryan Cayabyab also engaged in, will be given the Ryan Cayabyab Award. This year, the awardees are: Gilopez Kabayao, Lutgardo Labad, Joel Magus P. Navarro, Odette Quesada, Celeste Legaspi and the APO.
PPMF is produced by the non-stock, non-profit Bonifacio Art Foundation Inc, a foundation for the arts and sciences, through the BGC Arts Center. PPMF is and has always been curated by National Artist for Music, Ryan Cayabyab, Moy Ortiz and Noel Ferrer. PPMF is on its 7th year this year, promoting Filipino musical artistry.
