Kapuso primetime action star Ruru Madrid is brimming with excitement as his hit action-drama series ‘Lolong’ gears up for its highly anticipated return.
Recently introduced as a brand ambassador for a global watch brand, Ruru paid homage to his Lolong character by donning a striking black crocodile leather jacket, underscoring his enthusiasm for the show.
In an interview with Aubrey Carampel for ’24 Oras’ on November 18, Ruru expressed his eagerness to reprise his role in the series that he described as life-changing.
“Hindi na’ko makapaghintay na gawin ulit ’to. Sabi ko nga, ito ’yung programang nagpabago sa aking buhay at talagang minahal ko ng sobra. Para balikan ang isang bagay na ’yun, napakasarap sa puso,” he shared.
To prepare for the action-packed second season of Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan, Ruru underwent intensive Filipino martial arts training alongside co-stars Paul Salas and Martin Del Rosario. Their training included mastering weapons like arnis, baston, palakol, and punyal.
“Gusto kong maipagmalaki ang sariling atin dito sa Lolong at to give inspiration din to the younger generation,” said Ruru, highlighting his pride in Filipino heritage and culture.
Aside from the return of Lolong, Ruru is also set to appear in the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry ‘Green Bones.’ In the film, he stars opposite Kapuso Drama King Dennis Trillo in a story centered on hope and redemption. The official poster was recently unveiled, further fueling excitement among fans.
Ruru shared his pride in using his craft to inspire others, especially the youth.
“Napakasarap sa puso and nakaka-humble. Para bang hindi nasasayang lahat ng mga pinaghihirapan at hardwork na ginagawa ko,” he said.
For Ruru, self-improvement is a continuous journey: “Never-ending process ang self-improvement para maging better version ng aking sarili,” he added.
The return of ‘Lolong: Bayani ng Bayan’ promises heart-stopping action and compelling storytelling, while ‘Green Bones’ showcases a different side of Ruru’s versatility as an actor. Both projects solidify his dedication to his craft and his mission to inspire audiences through his work.
