Raul Dillo, known for his iconic “Kapre” roles in Philippine cinema, has found new hope for his family’s future with the help of Sam Versoza’s public service program, ‘Dear SV’ on GMA Network.
Through the show, Dillo received a fully equipped SioMaynila food cart, fulfilling a long-time dream of starting a siomai business.
The gesture comes as a lifeline for Dillo, who recently went viral after being spotted selling longganisa by the roadside. With acting opportunities dwindling, Dillo turned to small businesses to support his family, initially selling lugaw before moving to longganisa. “Kapag pagkain ang ititinda ko, hindi magugutom ang pamilya ko,” he shared, determined to provide for his family despite challenges.
Dillo’s wife, Grace, revealed that they had hoped to start a food cart business for years, making this gift a dream come true. Beyond the food cart, Versoza’s team has committed to guiding the family in operating and growing the business to ensure sustainable income.
In addition to the SioMaynila cart, Dillo’s family received groceries, prompting heartfelt thanks from the actor. “Wala naman pong inaasahan ang aking pamilya kundi ako lang,” he shared emotionally. “Sabi ko, ‘Hangga’t kaya ko pa, hindi ako bibitaw sa kanila. Kahit marami pang pagsubok.’” Dillo, who grew up facing hardship, vowed that his own children would not experience the same struggles. “Kapag nagkapamilya ako, hindi ko pababayaan ang mga anak ko,” he said.
Versoza also assured Dillo that he would cover his medical expenses, with an additional whispered promise of a “good news” surprise for the actor.
Versoza’s initiative on ‘Dear SV’ underscores the program’s commitment to supporting communities through practical, life-changing assistance. Catch ‘Dear SV’ for more stories of hope every Saturday at 11:30 PM on GMA Network.
