Reports have surfaced claiming that actress and entrepreneur Neri Miranda was arrested on Saturday, November 23, for allegedly violating Republic Act (RA) 8799 Section 28, also known as the “Securities Regulation Code,” under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The information was revealed by talent manager and online TV host Ogie Diaz in his ‘Showbiz Update’ vlog on November 24. According to Diaz, Miranda, who is married to Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda, was taken into custody by authorities from the Pasay City Police.
The alleged violation involves Section 28 of RA 8799, which prohibits individuals from buying, selling, or acting as brokers or dealers of securities in the Philippines without proper registration with the SEC.
Diaz further noted that his source claimed authorities had allegedly listed Neri as one of the “top most wanted persons” in connection with the case.
As of now, Neri Miranda and her husband Chito Miranda have yet to issue an official statement. Neri’s last post on Instagram was on November 22, where she greeted their son Miggy a happy birthday. Meanwhile, Chito has not addressed the issue on his social media accounts, despite followers leaving comments asking for clarification.
Diaz speculated that the case might be linked to a business dispute involving Neri, which eventually led to legal action.
Ogie urged the public to wait for Neri’s side of the story before making any judgments.
LionhearTV remains open to publishing any official statements from Neri Miranda or her camp to provide a clearer picture of the situation.
