Ken Chan is facing increased scrutiny after a recent social media post regarding the syndicated estafa case filed against him.
The Kapuso actor, who is accused in connection with the failed business venture Café Claus, revealed his side of the story in an Instagram post, but his actions have reportedly complicated his legal situation.
In the post, Ken clarified that while his business did not succeed, he did not defraud anyone. “Hindi po ako nanloko ng tao, naitayo po ang negosyo ngunit hindi ito nagtagumpay,” he wrote, emphasizing that the accusations about the amount involved in the case were exaggerated. He further explained that only the complainant’s version of events had been made public.
Ken said that the charge of syndicated estafa was misplaced, as the case was based on the business’s failure, rather than any fraudulent intent. “Ako naman po ang maglalabas ng mga detalye sa mga darating na pagkakataon dahil patuloy po ang pagdikdik sa akin ng mga taong gustong sirain ang pagkatao ko,” he added, asserting that he was fighting back against what he described as a concerted effort to tarnish his reputation.
However, the actor’s post, which was intended to defend himself, has led to a backlash from his legal team. Veteran entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin reported on her online show, ‘Cristy Ferminute,’ that Ken’s legal team was unaware of his decision to release an official statement on social media.
Fermin shared that Ken had been advised not to make any public statements, especially given the sensitive nature of the case. “Pinag-usapan natin noong nag-post siya sa IG account niya noong tungkol sa kaniyang depensa sa mga isyung kinapapalooban niya ngayon, walang alam ang kaniyang legal team,” Fermin explained. Co-host Romel Chika also expressed concern, stating that the actor’s actions could have inadvertently worsened the case by opening the door for further criticism.
Fermin advised Ken to stop using social media to address the case, stressing that legal matters should be handled in court. “Wala ‘yan sa social media. Nasa piskal ‘yan, nasa korte. Hindi na dapat mag-post pa si Ken Chan. Lalo lang siyang nadidiin,” she said.
Ken’s legal troubles have been ongoing, and tensions are rising as the case progresses. On November 8, police attempted to serve an arrest warrant for the actor, but he was not at home at the time. As the case continues, Ken’s decision to speak out publicly may have a lasting impact on his legal and professional future.
