One of the Philippines’ top tourist destinations, Boracay was named “Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination” at the World Travel Awards (WTA) Asia and Oceania Gala Ceremony held last September at City of Dreams Manila. As this year’s WTA host, the Philippines is doubly proud to have also received several accolades from the prestigious award-giving body. Aside from Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination, the Philippines was also named, Asia’s Leading Beach Destination, Asia’s Leading Dive Destination, Asia’s Leading Island Destination, Asia’s Leading Tourist Attraction (Intramuros), Asia’s Leading Marketing Campaign (Love the Philippines), Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination (Cebu), and the Transformational Leader Award in Tourism Governance for Sec. Frasco.

Skilled healthcare professionals will be manning the Tourist First Aid Facility and are ready to attend to any injuries or emergencies that tourists may encounter while on vacation. Another important project that the DOT launched in Boracay is the Muslim-friendly cove located at Boracay Newcoast in partnership with Megaworld Corporation and the Local Government Unit of Malay (LGU-Malay) and stakeholders. In its bid to enhance Halal and Muslim-friendly Tourism in the country and promote inclusivity, the DOT, together with partners from the public and private sector, is seeking ways to provide more halal travel products and services for local and foreign Muslim guests. These are just some of the ways that the DOT is effectively promoting local destinations like Boracay, which continues to have something new to offer.
