Award-winning filmmaker Gayle Oblea, known for her celebrated short film ‘As The Moth Flies,’ has launched the Philippines’ first aesthetic pimple patch brand, Matchy Patchy, which blends skincare with creative self-expression.
The launch took place during a Halloween party at Imajin Music and Arts Studio in Marikina.
Matchy Patchy aims to redefine pimple patches by offering vibrant designs that wearers can flaunt, rather than the traditional transparent patches commonly used to hide blemishes.
“The whole point is to, you know, embrace who you are, embrace yourself,” said Oblea, who serves as Chief Marketing Officer for the brand. She explained that the product encourages people to care for their skin while embracing their individuality.
Each Matchy Patchy pack includes 20 patches with six distinct designs and is formulated in South Korea with hydrocolloid and tea tree oil. The patches claim to reduce pimples within six to eight hours, combining both aesthetic appeal and effective acne care. “One thing that you’d like about Matchy Patchy is that it’s not just for aesthetic reasons but it’s also very effective,” Oblea noted.
Oblea shared that Matchy Patchy aims to expand its reach beyond the Philippines, hoping to bring Filipino vibrancy to international skincare markets. The brand has yet to sign a celebrity ambassador but envisions someone like Maris Racal, whose youthful and fresh appeal resonates with the brand’s image.
In addition to her new skincare venture, Oblea is working on a feature film through her production company, Creative Kartel, showcasing her passion for both film and innovative, self-expressive ventures.
