Actress Christine Bermas confirmed that she is still willing to accept sexy roles for the right projects, despite previously indicating a desire to move away from intimate scenes.
Bermas discussed her stance at a recent press conference for her latest film, ‘Celestina: Burlesk Dancer,’ which opens in theaters on December 4.
The actress explained that although she announced in September her decision to “graduate” from sexy roles, she remains open to such projects if the story is meaningful. “Yes, tuloy lang ang laban,” Bermas said. “If the story is truly beautiful and worth doing, why not?”
Her latest film ‘Celestina: Burlesk Dancer,’ set in the 1940s, features an intimate scene that was shot before her announcement. The film, written by National Artist for Film and Broadcast Ricky Lee and directed by McArthur C. Alejandre, includes a performance with a Japanese actor flown in for the role.
Bermas described her character in Celestina as one of her most challenging roles yet, noting that it pushes her out of her comfort zone and differs significantly from her real personality.
The period drama also stars Yen Durano, Sid Lucero, Arron Villaflor, Aiko Garcia, and Allan Paule, and promises to be a standout piece for fans of Filipino cinema.
