Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda has spoken out about the arrest of his wife, former actress and entrepreneur Neri Naig-Miranda, who is facing charges of estafa and violations of the Securities Regulation Code.
In a post on Instagram, Chito defended Neri, emphasizing that she was merely an endorser of a business venture and was not involved in fraudulent activities.
“Kinasuhan siya ng mga nabiktima,” Chito wrote. “Wala siyang ninakaw na pera o niloko. Ginamit lang ‘yung mukha niya para makahikayat ng mga investor.”
He also expressed frustration over the manner of her arrest, claiming Neri was not given a chance to respond to the new charges filed against her.
“Bigla na lang siyang inaresto for the same case kahit hindi pa siya binigyan ng notice na may bagong criminal complaint. Wala siyang natanggap na letter, subpoena, o kahit anong notice. Dinampot na lang siya bigla,” he said.
Chito called the situation unfair and voiced his belief in Neri’s integrity.
“Praying na ma-sort out na ang lahat ng ito… kawawa naman ‘yung asawa ko. Sobrang bait po ni Neri… Eto ‘yung babaeng kinulong ninyo without bail, habang nakalaya pa ‘yung mga tunay na may kasalanan,” he added.

The Southern Police District (SPD) confirmed the arrest of a 41-year-old actress and businesswoman referred to as “Neri” for 14 counts of estafa and violations of the Securities Regulation Code. While the SPD did not disclose the full name, sources identify the individual as Neri Naig-Miranda.
According to reports, she was apprehended at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Showbiz insider Ogie Diaz, in his Showbiz Update vlog, speculated that the timing of the arrest on a Saturday was deliberate to prevent Neri from posting bail over the weekend.
“Mukhang malaking tao ‘yung nakabangga ni Neri dahil kasi sinadya na Saturday ipahuli para walang piyansa, weekend,” Ogie said.
Chito remains hopeful for a fair resolution, reiterating his wife’s innocence and highlighting her good character. “Napanindigan namin ang aming prinsipyo sa edad na ito, and we remain steadfast that the truth will prevail,” he said.
