Blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Sampana recently opened up about her love story with her husband, Louie Sampana, revealing the unique journey they’ve shared, despite a 20-year age difference.
In an interview with Kapamilya broadcaster Bernadette Sembrano, Cathy shared how Louie, who was once a camera man on the set of the popular series ‘Got To Believe,’ caught her eye—though she didn’t notice his charm at first.
“Naging camera man ko siya totoy na totoy pa in ‘Got To Believe’ with KathNiel. Ang tawag ko sa kaniya, anak. Ang tawag niya sa akin, nanay,” Cathy recalled. “Ngayon ko lang napansin—kasi hindi ko naman siya natititigan dati—‘hmmmm may hitsura pala ‘tong batang ‘to.’ Tapos ‘yon na, the rest is history,” she added with a laugh.
Despite their significant age gap, Cathy emphasized how Louie’s affection extended beyond her, especially toward her children from a previous marriage. Cathy was married to Philip Molina, who tragically passed away in an accident in 2009. She shared how Louie grew close to her children, making her feel more secure in their relationship.
“Dumating sa point na nale-left out na ko. Nagseselos na ako. Kasi mas malapit ‘yong taon nila kaysa sa taon namin,” Cathy confessed.
In 2023, Cathy and Louie tied the knot in a heartfelt ceremony in Zambales, surrounded by friends and colleagues from the entertainment industry. Their relationship continues to be an inspiring story of love, resilience, and family.
