Actress and ‘It’s Showtime’ host Anne Curtis recently voiced her concerns on social media about how government funds are being allocated across various departments.

Her comments came after she reshared a video featuring UP Associate Professor Cielo Magno discussing issues in the 2024 budget process and awarding the current allocation practices a “failing grade.”

In her post on X (formerly Twitter), Curtis openly questioned the impact of these budgets on public welfare, asking, “ANG laki laki ng budget nila. Mapapatanong ka talaga e. Kamusta nga ba ang performance so far ng bawat department? Sakit sa heart.” The post struck a chord with netizens, who quickly joined the conversation, expressing their own concerns about public funds management.

Netizens reacted passionately to Curtis’s post, with one user writing, “If we want a better government, we need to elect officials who value transparency and have the heart of true public servants.” Another netizen noted, “Corruption here is overwhelming. Despite the large budgets, wealth stays with officials, while everyday people struggle to progress.”

Others expressed frustration with the lack of visible improvement in essential sectors, with one comment reading, “It’s frustrating to see a budget that doesn’t prioritize where it’s most needed, especially when every peso counts for Filipinos.”

Curtis also used her platform to advocate for greater environmental responsibility, especially in light of the devastation caused by Typhoon Kristine, highlighting the need for accountability and action in protecting the nation’s natural resources.

With her post gaining traction, Curtis joins the growing number of public figures speaking out for accountability and transparency in government spending, especially as citizens face ongoing economic and environmental challenges.
