Veteran host Amy Perez has refuted persistent rumors claiming that ABS-CBN’s noontime show on GMA Network, ‘It’s Showtime,’ will end its run this December.
Speaking during the thanksgiving media conference for Radyo 630 TeleRadyo Serbisyo at Seda Vertis North in Quezon City, Amy addressed the speculation, saying no such plans have been communicated to the team by their management.
“Wala kaming alam d’yan,” Amy clarified when asked about the rumors. “Pero kami ay mga sundalo lang na susunod kung saan kami dadalhin ng panahon,” she added, urging the public to wait for any formal announcements from their bosses.
Despite the circulating rumors, Amy remained confident and chose to focus on her gratitude for the opportunities she has to work and contribute positively to their audience.
During the same event, Amy was asked if her involvement in public service through her radio show ‘Ako ‘To Si T’yang Amy’ might lead her to consider a career in politics. The host quickly dismissed the idea.
“Nooo! Puwede ka namang tumulong. Wala, wala akong plano. Wala, wala talaga,” she said emphatically, recalling how offers to run for public office had been made to her as far back as her days on MTB.
“Matahimik ang buhay natin, masaya. Ayaw natin ng kumplikasyon. Puwede naman tayong tumulong kahit wala sa pulitika,” she explained, emphasizing that her current platform is sufficient for making an impact.
Amy balances her work on ‘It’s Showtime’ with her radio program ‘Ako ‘To Si T’yang Amy,’ which airs every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 3 PM, focusing on mental health and practical advice. She also fulfills her responsibilities as a wife and mother.
Regarding the speculation surrounding ‘It’s Showtime,’ Amy urged everyone to focus on positivity instead of spreading unverified information.
As of now, no official announcements have been made about any changes to ‘It’s Showtime.’
