Veteran TV and radio host Amy Perez opened up about her past experience with infidelity during the thanksgiving press conference for DWPM RADYO 630 at Seda Hotel, Trinoma Complex, Quezon City.
The event, held on Tuesday, highlighted the achievements of the radio station, where Amy and fellow host Winnie Cordero shared insights about their programs.
Amy candidly addressed how her past marriage to Brix Ferraris, the former frontman of South Border, shaped the advice she shares with her audience. Married in 1995, the couple later separated, with their marriage annulled nine years after their split.
Drawing from her personal experiences, Amy often relates to her listeners’ struggles. “Kapag ako ang nagbibigay ng advice sa mga listeners, hindi ko naman dinidikdik sa kanila, ‘O, eto ang gawin mo because this is how I did it before,’” she explained.
Amy said she ensures her advice is tailored to the individual’s situation, adding, “At the end of the day, I will give you options. Kung ikaw ay aking listener, bibigyan kita ng option nu’ng nangyari yan sa akin.”
Recalling her own experience with infidelity, she shared with a laugh, “Kung ang pinag-uusapan ay nag-cheat ang asawa, ‘Eto yung ginawa ko. Nangyari yan sa akin.’”
Despite the challenges of her first marriage, Amy expressed her joy in finding love again with her second husband, Carlo Castillo, with whom she is celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary this year.
“I’m happy with my second husband. In fact, we’re celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary,” she said, reflecting on how she has moved forward from her past.
Amy also discussed her program ‘Ako ‘To, Si Tyang Amy,’ which airs weekdays at 3 p.m. on DWPM RADYO 630. The show focuses on mental health and provides support and advice to listeners dealing with life’s challenges.
She emphasized how her own experiences have enriched her ability to connect with her audience. “Marami na kaming pinagdaanan sa buhay. So, yung mga pinagdaanan namin na iyon ang siyang baon namin every single day.”
Amy was joined at the press event by fellow host Winnie Cordero, who anchors the weekday public service show ‘Tatak Serbisyo’ and ‘Win Today’ every Saturday.
