Unkabogable star Vice Ganda addressed recent rumors surrounding ‘It’s Showtime’ and its hosts, emphasizing the importance of staying united and resilient amid controversies.
The rumors, which have circulated on social media, included allegations that fellow host Jackie Gonzaga was pregnant, with Ion Perez—another ‘It’s Showtime’ host—allegedly being the father. This rumor also claimed that Perez’s relationship with Vice Ganda was on the rocks due to the situation. Additionally, questions were raised about the show’s contract with GMA Network, fueling speculations about its future.
During a press conference on Friday, Vice Ganda lightheartedly teased what may unfold for ‘It’s Showtime’ in December, adding intrigue to the show’s upcoming plans. However, when asked directly about the ongoing rumors, Vice confirmed that there has been a deliberate attempt to discredit the show and its hosts.
“Well, there really was or there really is a demolition job against It’s Showtime,” Vice Ganda stated. She explained that while the source of the attacks remains unclear, social media trolls have played a significant role in spreading misinformation. “Yung ginagawa sa social media, demolition job yun eh. Meron silang masamang intensyon,” Vice added.
Despite the challenges, Vice stressed the importance of teamwork in overcoming obstacles. “Kaming lahat, sa dami nang pinagdaanan namin, I believe that our team is strong enough to battle all these negativities, challenges, and threats together.”
Vhong Navarro, another veteran host of ‘It’s Showtime,’ echoed Vice Ganda’s sentiments. “Wala naman talagang perpekto, may mga pagkakamali. Sa dami mong ginawa na tama, isang pagkakamali lang na nagawa mo, ang maaalala lang ng mga tao ay yung isang pagkakamali na yun,” Navarro said, underscoring the difficulty of pleasing everyone.
As ‘It’s Showtime’ prepares to celebrate its 15th anniversary on October 24, the hosts are gearing up for their annual ‘Magpasikat’ competition, where they will perform in groups and showcase their talents.
Vice Ganda remains optimistic despite the controversies, urging the team to focus on their work. “We just have to deal with it, and we just have to keep on going,” she concluded.
‘It’s Showtime’ has weathered numerous storms over the years, and as it approaches its milestone anniversary, the show’s strong bond among its hosts remains a source of strength.
