The seasoned and award-winning OPM Chief is set to stage his OgieOke2: Reimagined concert on November 30, at the Newports Performing Arts Theater.
Ever since he joined the music industry in the ’80s, It’s Showtime host, Ogie Alcasid, has been known to write timeless songs, not just for himself, but for other prolific singers, like Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, and even for his wife, Regine Velasquez. His genius in songwriting, is, itself, timeless.
So, it wasn’t surprising, at all, when he revealed he has written another brilliant song. This time it is for Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino, more popularly known by their fans as KimPau.
During the press conference for his upcoming concert, OgieOke 2: Reimagined, a press member asked him about the possibility of writing a song for KimPau, and what story would it contain. Instead, he revealed that he actually wrote a song for the pair, and even shared verses from the song.
“Eto ah, lyrics ah, basahin ko sa inyo: ‘araw-araw ang pipilin ko, ay ikaw lang mahal. Wala nang iba, ikaw ang lakas at kahinaan ko. Sa yakap mo ko lang gusto, araw-araw, ikaw lang mahal, “ he shared, adding that he has not released the track yet.

“Parang…I would dedicate that to them” he continued, referring to Kim and Paulo.
He then shared another verse, which he told the press, was a pretty and emotional one. “Hindi ko inakala, na sa huli ay ikaw; ang kapiling sa bawat sandali. Nalimot ang lahat ng nagmamanhid na damdaming ito, sa mga love storyng laging talo ako, ”
He sang a small line in his song but admitted that he forgot most of it. Nevertheless, he said that he already recorded the new love song, which KimPau, themselves, have not heard yet, he shared.
Alcasid and Chiu developed friendship when they both joined the noontime show, It’s Showtime. Chiu and Avelino, meanwhile, have their loveteam formed, when their projects, Linlang and What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim PH, became very successful.
