The long-awaited MYX VJ Search 2024 extends its online submissions until Tuesday (October 22) and 2018 VJ search winner and longtime MYX mainstay Samm Alvero provides tips for aspirants on how to ace their auditions.
“Cliche as it is, just be yourself. Never ever try to be someone you’re not or someone you think people will like. Have fun with it. Life isn’t always that serious and the sooner you learn that, the easier everything will be,” the 25-year-old VJ said.
As a big music fan, Samm became an avid MYX viewer and admired how VJs interacted with her favorite artists up close and personal.
“When the opportunity arose, I remember just going for it. I didn’t even prepare much to be honest because I didn’t know what to expect. It was a little overwhelming for me since I had no hosting experience before that and I was with others who have hosted before. But, I let my individuality and authentic self shine through and it brought me to where I am today,” Samm shared.
Some might feel intimidated and pressured to face the biggest stars in the music industry. But as a VJ, Samm saw it as an opportunity to help artists tell their stories to their audiences. She also added that through building friendships, the chemistry naturally came out in her interviews.
“It’s honestly been a wild ride. I’ve met so many people doing what I love and that’s probably my favorite part about it. I get to let others shine and I get to put the spotlight on them. What I treasure most are the friendships and connections I’ve formed because of being a MYX VJ,” she said.
