Kathryn Bernardo admitted she had reservations about reprising her role in the much-anticipated sequel to ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye,’ titled ‘Hello, Love, Again,’ co-starring Alden Richards.
In her interview on ‘,’ Kathryn opened up about the challenges and initial doubts she faced when the idea of a sequel was first presented. “I’ll be honest. When they told me about it early this year, I was a bit hesitant kasi, ‘di ba Tito Boy, alam natin kung gaano kahirap gumawa ng sequel,” Kathryn revealed.
She added, “And for me, I would like to leave it as it is — like Joy and Ethan (karakter nila ni Alden), nag-end na ‘yung love story nila, parang iwan na natin ‘yun.”
“Fast forward to 2024 when they told me about this, parang ‘yung idea pa lang, sinabi ko, ‘Are you sure? Kailangan pa natin ituloy ‘yung kwento nila? Parang nakakatakot siya sundan.’”
The turning point came when Kathryn learned about the sequel’s storyline, which she found compelling enough to explore further.
“And then, nu’ng in-explain nila sa akin ‘yung story, doon ko na-realize na there are so many questions na gusto kong bigyan ng sagot. What happened to Joy and Ethan? Nagawa ba nila yung dreams nila? ‘Yung sa trailer na nakita n’yo, ano’ng nangyari kina Joy at Ethan? Bakit sila umabot sa ganito? Will they give second chances? What happened to Ethan in Hong Kong? What happened to Joy in Canada?,” she explained.
“So many questions, ang daming kailangang sagutin. That made me say yes, and when they told me Direk Cathy (Garcia-Sampana) is going to direct it, and pinayagan ulit si Tisoy (Alden) despite his busy, busy schedule, parang everything fell into place.”
Learning that ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye’ director Cathy Garcia-Sampana would direct the sequel solidified her decision. “And I think, this is the perfect time to do it,” she added.
Kathryn, who enjoyed working with cast members Joross Gamboa, Jameson Blake, Jobert Austria, Ruby Rodriguez, Valerie Concepcion, Jennica Garcia, and Kakai Bautista, said she was thrilled to return to the character of Joy.
Fans of the “KathDen” tandem are eagerly anticipating the release, which also marks a milestone as the first joint film project between GMA Pictures, ABS-CBN Studios, and Star Cinema.
‘Hello, Love, Again’ is set to premiere globally in cinemas on November 13, 2024.
