JCo Donuts and Coffee is set to celebrate its 12th anniversary in the Philippines with the first-ever JCo Philippines Run, happening on November 10 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena Complex.
Bringing together 6,000 runners, the event blends fitness and fun as part of the brand’s milestone celebration.
The highlight of the race will be the 12K category, designed in honor of JCo’s 12-year presence in the country, attracting 2,300 participants. International marathoner and race director Rio dela Cruz of RUNRIO will oversee the event. Other race categories include a 5K run with 2,800 runners and a 3K event with 900 participants. Registration sold out in just 15 minutes, with participants eager for the sweet prizes and the unique, donut-themed finisher medals.
“This special event not only celebrates health and wellness but also embodies the spirit of a lively community and sweet togetherness,” said JCo Head of Asia, John Leung, during the media launch held at JCo’s Glorietta branch in Makati. “At JCo, we believe that life is meant to be enjoyed and that’s why we created the JCo run.”
Leung emphasized that the run is about more than just fitness, saying, “This run is more than just a race. It’s about fostering community spirit, uniting families and friends and reminding everyone to savor the sweetness of life on and off the track.”
The JCo Run, an annual event in Indonesia since 2016, is making its Philippine debut this year. The course will take runners through scenic routes along Seaside Boulevard, Diokno Boulevard, and Roxas Boulevard before returning to the Mall of Asia Complex.
As part of the festivities, JCo will open a new store at SM Mall of Asia on November 8. Finishers of the run will not only receive medals but also complimentary drinks and donuts.
“We’re very excited to see all the runners as we celebrate our 12th year of existence in the Philippines and what better activity to do it with a fun run as we believe in the motto of health is wealth,” said Jericho Eva, JCo’s assistant marketing manager. Eva was joined at the launch by celebrity couple ambassadors Juancho Triviño and Joyce Pring-Triviño.
Coach Rio dela Cruz added that the event promotes running as a simple form of exercise accessible to all. “This is very important not only for Runrio but for the running community because we’re giving them a platform that they can look forward to continuing and sustaining their motivation and fitness goal,” Dela Cruz said.
Looking ahead, JCo plans to expand the JCo Run nationwide next year, with events scheduled for Visayas and Mindanao, aiming to establish the race as an annual event in the Philippines, much like in Indonesia.
