GMA Network President and CEO Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr. welcomed Israel’s Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Ilan Fluss, during a courtesy call at the GMA Network Center in Quezon City on October 22, 2024.
Accompanying Ambassador Fluss were Deputy Ambassador Ester Buzgan and Press Officer Danica Marollano-Reglos.
Duavit, on the other hand, was joined by GMA Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong and GMA Network officers: Atty. Annette Gozon-Valdes, Lilybeth G. Rasonable, Oliver Victor B. Amoroso, Rikki Escudero-Catibog, Joseph T. Francia, and Angela Javier Cruz.
During the meeting, Duavit discussed the Embassy of Israel’s events and activities, highlighting Israel’s humanitarian assistance in typhoon-stricken areas, and its support during the pandemic.
He then emphasized the role of GMA Network in the relationship between the Philippines and Israel: “GMA Network is a partner in the enhancement of understanding between our nations…we will continue to strengthen Philippine-Israeli ties through responsible, unbiased, and timely delivery of accurate news and information.”
Ambassador Fluss, meanwhile, noted the connection between the two countries despite their geographical distance. “Our nations, our countries, are really close. We are far away geographically, we are in the Middle East and you are in Southeast Asia. We have very different strategic settings, different challenges from some perspectives. But on the other hand, a lot of commonalities, specifically in our culture and in history.”
