GMA Network’s afternoon drama lineup continues to dominate its timeslots, even as overall ratings remain modest.
According to the latest Nielsen NUTAM People survey, “Abot Kamay Na Pangarap (AKNP),” “Lilet Matias,” and “Shining Inheritance” consistently lead their respective time slots despite lower viewership numbers.
On Monday, September 30, AKNP secured fourth place on the overall chart with a rating of 8.7 percent. Lilet Matias followed at eighth with a 7.8 percent rating, while “Shining Inheritance” ranked ninth with 7.1 percent.
The following day, Tuesday, October 1, AKNP saw a slight bump, rising to 8.9 percent and placing fifth. Lilet Matias climbed to sixth with 8.5 percent, while “Shining Inheritance” dropped to 10th with 6.9 percent.
By Wednesday, October 2, AKNP made a notable jump to 9.8 percent, with Lilet Matias improving to 9.2 percent and “Shining Inheritance” increasing to 7.3 percent.
On Thursday, October 3, AKNP dipped slightly to 9.5 percent, but Lilet Matias continued to climb, reaching 9.3 percent. “Shining Inheritance” also rose to 7.7 percent.
However, by Friday, October 4, AKNP fell further to 8.9 percent, Lilet Matias dropped to 8.9 percent, and “Shining Inheritance” experienced a significant decline to 6.6 percent.
While GMA’s afternoon dramas remain unchallenged in the absence of ABS-CBN’s afternoon teleseryes, the relatively lower ratings suggest that Filipino TV viewing habits have shifted dramatically compared to when ABS-CBN was still a competitor.
