With many celebrities eyeing political positions for the 2025 elections, Kapamilya actor Gerald Anderson has once again addressed speculation about his potential political run.
In an interview with ABS-CBN, Anderson firmly dismissed any plans to enter politics, stating that he is content with using his influence to make a positive impact.
“I’m just happy to be in a position where I can also help. Nagagamit ko naman ‘yung platform ko eh,” Anderson emphasized, adding that he finds fulfillment in his current work without needing to enter politics.
The actor explained that he respects the complexities of political life, acknowledging the challenges faced by his friends in the field. “May mga kaibigan ako in politics, alam ko, napakahirap nu’n. I wouldn’t jump into something na hindi ako handa, or hindi ko pinag-aralan because [people’s] lives are at stake,” Anderson remarked.
He further elaborated, “It’s not a really reason na kaya sumugod sa baha ay para pasukin ang isang bagay na wala kang alam or hindi ko napag-aralan. But I’m very happy because I have friends with powerful positions that help me with my platforms.”
Back in August, rumors emerged that groups were urging Anderson to run for a congressional seat in the 2025 elections. However, the actor had previously dismissed these rumors, expressing satisfaction with his current role in the entertainment industry and the opportunities it provides to help others.
“Okay na ‘ko sa ganito, because I still have the opportunity para makatulong para sa bayan,” Anderson said. “And also isa sa mga motivation ko is to work harder to maintain or keep my celebrity status kasi ang laking tulong niya talaga and as much as possible, ginagamit ko sa tama.”
Anderson’s commitment to public service is well-known, especially after a viral video showed him helping people trapped in their homes during severe flooding in Metro Manila caused by Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon. The actor’s selfless act earned widespread praise.
Beyond these efforts, Anderson continues to serve in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) reserve force, actively participating in community outreach and relief initiatives, further solidifying his role as a public figure dedicated to helping those in need.
