Kapuso actress Gabbi Garcia has candidly shared that she struggled to move on after her breakup with fellow actor Ruru Madrid, who was her first love.
In a recent episode of ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,’ Garcia was asked about her past relationship with Madrid. During the show’s segment, host Boy Abunda posed the question, “Guilty or not guilty: nahirapan mag-move on…,” but before he could finish, Garcia immediately responded, “Guilty.”
Abunda then clarified, “Kay Ruru!” to which Gabbi paused briefly and confirmed, “Kay Ruru? O, sige (guilty). First love ko, eh.”
Abunda praised Garcia for her honesty, despite the fact that she is now in a happy relationship with fellow Kapuso star Khalil Ramos. Garcia proudly described Khalil as someone who is very understanding and emotionally mature. “Khalil is very open. He’s a smart person, he can handle things,” she said.
Both Garcia and Madrid have since moved on with their lives. Garcia is now in a relationship with Ramos, while Madrid is dating actress Bianca Umali.
In a previous interview on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,’ Madrid also discussed his past with Garcia, revealing that she was his only girlfriend before he started dating Umali. He shared that their young age and being part of a love team played a role in their relationship.
“Nu’ng naging kami, sobrang bata pa po namin. Gabbi’s 15. Ako po, 16. And then, siguro, somehow, malaking factor na magkatrabaho po kami, loveteam kami, kailangan laging kami makita na sweet sa isa’t isa so siguro, du’n, du’n namin na-discover na in love kami,” Madrid explained.
Reflecting on that time, Madrid added, “Kumbaga, nadala kami sa moment. Siguro, somehow, ako rin, personally, hindi pa rin po ako, hindi ganu’n kalawak ‘yung kaalaman ko when it comes to love.”
