Anji Salvacion became visibly emotional during the press conference for the rerun of ‘Tabing Ilog: The Musical,’ held on October 9 at B Hotel, Quezon City.
The actress and singer, who is part of the musical’s cast, opened up about her initial lack of confidence when she first joined the project.
“For me kasi, hala, emotional. Stop, guys!” Anji began, struggling to contain her emotions. She admitted feeling vulnerable at the start but found strength through the encouragement of the production’s director, Phil Noble.
Anji recalled a moment after the first run of the show that deeply touched her. “Direk told me something I will never forget—‘Ikaw at ikaw ang magpu-push sa iyo pataas’—and that was something that truly resonated with me,” she said, her voice shaking.
The young star went on to explain that the director’s belief in her growth helped her realize her own potential. “That’s when I appreciated that I also have something to offer. I realized I could do this, and I could overcome the challenges. Now, I’m here again!” she said, brimming with gratitude.
Anji credited ‘Tabing Ilog: The Musical’ for boosting her confidence, especially in singing and stage performance. “That’s what I’m most grateful for—it’s something I’ll hold on to forever. Because of Tabing Ilog, I’m more confident in singing and performing on stage,” she shared.
The musical is a stage adaptation of the iconic 1999 television series ‘Tabing Ilog,’ which gained widespread popularity among Filipino audiences. The upcoming rerun is a collaboration between ABS-CBN and the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) and will run at the PETA Theater in Quezon City from November 8 to December 1. Tickets are available online through Ticketworld.
Apart from Anji, other returning Star Magic artists include Vivoree Esclito, Sheena Belarmino, Benedix Ramos, Kobie Brown, Jordan Andrews, Kiara Takahashi, Andi Abaya, Omar Uddin, and Akira Morishita of BGYO.
