Kapamilya actress Alexa Ilacad has expressed that she does not foresee herself getting pregnant or having children anytime soon.
She believes that women today should not feel pressured by societal expectations regarding motherhood, especially if they genuinely do not wish to become mothers.
Ilacad stars in the upcoming film ‘Mujigae,’ which marks the first project from Unitel Pictures after a significant hiatus in production. Through her role in the film, she has gained important insights about parenting and recognizes that the decision to have children is not a simple one in today’s world.
During a recent press conference for ‘Mujigae,’ Alexa was asked about her thoughts on women who choose not to have children. She stated, “I get it! I totally get it. And that’s okay. I think now, we’re more open to living our lives the way we want to live without fear of judgment from other people. You don’t have to pressure yourself to do a certain thing because it’s what society wants from you. It’s you who will suffer in the end.”
In ‘Mujigae,’ Ilacad plays the character of Sunny, who is reluctant to care for her half-Filipino, half-Korean nephew Mujigae, portrayed by Ryrie Sophia, known as ‘Mini Miss U’ from ‘It’s Showtime.’ Despite her hesitation about having children, Sunny finds herself compelled to take care of her nephew due to unexpected events that unfold in the storyline.
Ilacad also shared her experience working with South Korean actor Kim Ji-soo in ‘Mujigae.’ She recalled her first impression of him, saying, “When I saw Ji-soo for the first time, he’s so tall. I think he is 6 (feet) something and I am so small so kapag tinitingnan ko siya nakatingala ako talaga and I didn’t know if he spoke English, so I was afraid that there was gonna be a language barrier, something like that.”

She added, “He look really serious, like game face on. Tapos isinalang agad kami sa isang scene, parang workshop so I have to break the ice. But he’s very nice. And slowly but surely, day by day, he started opening to everyone, nakikipagbiruan na siya sa lahat.”
‘Mujigae,’ directed by Randolph Longjas, will be released in SM Cinemas nationwide starting October 9.
