GMA Network’s newest drama series, “Shining Inheritance”, has brought fresh energy to the Kapuso afternoon lineup, delivering a strong ratings performance right from its debut.
Based on the latest Nielsen NUTAM People survey, “Shining Inheritance” premiered with impressive numbers, outperforming its predecessor, “Voltes V: Legacy (VVL),” in the overall ratings chart.
On its pilot on Monday, September 9, the show garnered a 6.1 percent rating, 1.3 percent higher than VVL’s finale rating of 4.8 percent. It also climbed to the 12th spot in the rankings, one position above VVL’s finale ranking of 13th.
The momentum continued on Tuesday, September 10, with “Shining Inheritance” increasing its rating by 0.2 percent to 6.3 percent and advancing two spots to reach the number 10 position. However, on Wednesday, September 11, the show experienced a slight dip, slipping by 0.1 percent to 6.2 percent and dropping one spot to 11th in the rankings.
Despite the small decline, “Shining Inheritance” has proven to be a solid replacement for VVL in its timeslot, significantly boosting GMA Network’s afternoon ratings. In comparison, VVL had only averaged between 3 to 5 percent, with rankings fluctuating between 12th to 16th. “Shining Inheritance”, on the other hand, has already broken into the top 10, joining other successful Kapuso afternoon dramas like Abot Kamay na Pangarap and Lilet Matias.

The question now is whether this strong start will hold steady, or if the high ratings are simply a result of the pilot week buzz.
