The office romance drama ‘My Resignation Love’ has become a fast-growing hit, drawing in over 2.87 million views across Facebook and YouTube.
Produced by the startup company Superstar Multi Network Channel (MCN), the series features young stars Julia Bolos and Caine Domingo, both of whom rose to fame through ‘It’s Showtime’s’ ‘Xpecially for You.’ Directed by Job Mondigo and written by Wilhelm Ramirez, the show takes a deep dive into the complexities of balancing love and career within an office setting.
‘My Resignation Love’ explores the often challenging dynamics of office relationships, with the central dilemma being the conflict between personal romance and professional growth. Julia Bolos, who plays Alice, shared her experience playing the lead role. “Tbh wala naman po akong challenges and since di naman ganun kabigat ung mga scene, also gusto ko rin naman ung role ko kaya neenjoy ko po ung pag act as Alice,” she said.
Caine Domingo, who plays Alice’s love interest Dexter, had a different challenge—portraying a hot-headed, stressed character. “Pagiging mainitin yung ulo. Laging stress sa problem ng opis, sa bahay, at sa personal love life,” he explained.
The lead actors also discussed how they built chemistry on-screen. Julia admitted that working with Caine was easy, as she found him charming. “For chemistry with me and Caine, its easy to bond with Caine naman and madali lang kiligin or mapangiti ni Caine since gwapo naman si Caine. Sometimes medyo naiilang since un nga ung case ni Caine and the limitations interacting with Caine,” she said with a laugh. However, Caine also highlighted how they worked together on their lines and acting, saying Julia gave her best in every scene.
Writer Wilhelm Ramirez explained that the inspiration for ‘My Resignation Love’ came from common dilemmas faced by many young adults today—choosing between career and love. “First of all, the concept for the story mostly revolves around the dilemma of choosing between one’s career and love life. During the initial phases of this drama, the idea of second chances was also explored. The phrase “right person, wrong place and wrong time” was one of the major inspirations especially on character building. While the story was not based on a certain real-life office romance, I believe it is a story that the viewers will find oh-so-familiar,” Ramirez shared.
Director Job Mondigo revealed some behind-the-scenes challenges, particularly with filming in an active office setting. “Mahirap actually, kasi may ibang ginagawa rin yung mga officemate namin sa company. Hindi lahat involved sa series. Kailangan namin itawid na hindi naman sobrang nagagambala ang operation ng company. Minsan kulang kami sa tao kaya no choice kundi isama ang mga employee as talent. Very supportive naman ang lahat,” he explained. Mondigo added that portraying office romances required careful consideration, especially since many workplaces discourage relationships.
Despite the challenges, Mondigo emphasized the importance of making the characters’ love story authentic. “Pinagrirehearse namin sila as is may relationship talaga sila. I am very hands on naman when it comes to execution. Sa mga eksena na nag-aaaway sila, sa mga kiligan scenes.etc. Minsan may mga pinapanood din kami sakanilang mga scene o clips ng mga romcom film para magkaroon sila ng inspirasyon o reference pagdating sa acting,” he said.
The creators of ‘My Resignation Love’ hope viewers connect with the series’ exploration of career-versus-romance dilemmas. “Gusto namin bigyang pansin yung struggle sa buhay ng mga young adult na kadalasan ay naiipit sa sitwasyon na kung saan ay kailangan mamili between Love and career. Gusto rin namin ipakita kung gaano nakakaapekto yung pagkakaiba ng kalagayan sa buhay ng tao pagdating sa pakikipagrelasyon,” said Mondigo.
The show is available on the Superstar MCN Facebook and YouTube channels, where viewers can follow Alice and Dexter’s journey as they navigate the complexities of love in the workplace.
