Filipino singer Marcelito Pomoy achieved a milestone in his career after performing at the prestigious Big Art Festival in Italy, where he impressed his idol, world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli.
Held at Bocelli’s villa in Forte dei Marmi last August, Marcelito’s performance featured a stunning rendition of ‘The Prayer,’ a song made famous by Bocelli and Celine Dion.
Both Bocelli and his wife, Veronica Berti Bocelli, praised Marcelito for his incredible talent.
Overjoyed by the experience, Marcelito took to Facebook to express his gratitude: “Andrea Bocelli always stays my role model and has played a huge role in my life and in shaping who I am now. Thank you @andreabocelliofficial for changing my life and without you I could have never been out of poverty of the Philippines.”
Marcelito, who won ‘Pilipinas Got Talent in 2011,’ admitted that he was overwhelmed by the moment. “I was in awe and moved to tears, as he said he already heard me singing before. Is this real? Or am I still dreaming?” he wrote.
In 2020, Marcelito also gained international recognition as a semifinalist in ‘America’s Got Talent’ for his unique dual-voice performances. Now, earning praise from Bocelli adds another remarkable achievement to his already inspiring journey in the music industry.
