LA Santos and Kira Balinger have no issues with their film ‘Maple Leaf Dreams’ being compared to the upcoming movie ‘Hello, Love, Again’ featuring Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo, both of which were filmed in Canada.
Set to premiere on September 25, ‘Maple Leaf Dreams’ was completed last year, long before the KathDen movie, which will be released in November. Despite both films sharing a similar premise centered on the lives of OFWs in Canada, LA and Kira are unfazed by the comparisons.
“Sobrang happy ako na nag-Canada kami na Alden and Ms. Kathryn,” LA said during the red carpet premiere last Friday, showing no signs of concern about the timing.
He continued, “I’m very happy na mabanggit lang na kasama sila at sobrang blessing naman talaga po na makapunta sa Canada.”
The cast of ‘Maple Leaf Dreams’ filmed for two weeks, and both LA and Kira admitted that they grew closer during the shoot. LA praised Kira’s dedication to her work, describing her as a hardworking and committed actress.
“I’m just very lucky to be given the chance na maka-work si Miss Kira. Talagang grabe ‘yung dedication niya sa trabaho at sa pamilya na rin,” LA said. “Sobrang swerte ko talaga na nagkaroon ako ng chance na mas makilala pa si Kira. Saka grabe siya, grabe siyang leading lady saka alam ko na mas malayo pa ang mararating niya.”

The film, directed by Benedict Mique, was not without its challenges, including the freezing Canadian weather. However, the team pushed through, and the positive feedback they received made the experience worthwhile.
Produced by Lonewolf Films in cooperation with JRB Creative Production and Star Magic, ‘Maple Leaf Dreams’ also features veteran actors Snooky Serna and Joey Marquez, along with other notable names.
