Kapamilya actor Grae Fernandez, one of the lead stars of ABS-CBN’s hit series ‘Pamilya Sagrado,’ has expressed his willingness to collaborate with his father, veteran actor Mark Anthony Fernandez, in a future project.
However, Grae is firm about one condition: the roles must be a perfect fit for both of them.
In a recent interview, Grae explained, “Dapat bagay po sa kanya ‘yung karakter, at bagay rin po sa akin. I think the chemistry, of course obviously will be there. I think it really needs to have the depth of a storyline. Kung ano pong ipapakita namin sa audience.”
He emphasized that it’s not enough to cast them just because they are father and son, stating, “Hindi lang po, because it’s Mark Anthony and because it’s Grae, na kaya tayo gagawa ng project. What’s the project first, then cast us as actors. So that’s my perspective on that. Pero again, I’m very open to that idea.”
Mark Anthony, in a previous media conference for Vivamax, shared his support for the idea of working with Grae, whether it be for a film or television series. He also revealed that he has been closely following his son’s performance in ‘Pamilya Sagrado,’ where Grae’s acting has been earning widespread praise.
For Grae, knowing his father is proud of him is deeply meaningful. “Yeah, ever since (I started with) my career, he has let me do my own thing. Pero he told me na ito yung pinakanaririnig niya from other people na parang, ‘Oh wow! Ang galing ni Grae du’n!’ Parang, ‘Oh, wow! Ang ganda nu’ng show.’ So he checked it out, and he’s really proud of me in this one. So I’m very happy for that.”
Grae also recalled some invaluable advice his father shared with him: “That in this industry, you have to really be fearless. Kailangan mo talaga ipaglaban ‘yung sino ka at anong paniniwala mo, what you believe in. And just to be, if you’re really entering, when I was starting this career, ‘parang kung gusto mo talaga ito, you have to give it your all talaga. You can’t just be not serious about it.’”
Looking back on his early days in showbiz, Grae admitted he wasn’t initially sure about his path. “And again, nu’ng baguhan pa ako, medyo bata pa rin po ako, I didn’t know what I wanted or what my interests were. Nung that stage po, medyo petiks petiks pa rin po ako here and there. But now talaga, again, I just want to be the best actor I can and just work as hard as I can. Ngayon na mas nakakatanda na po ako.”
In addition, Grae revealed he will be heading to the United States to continue his studies at an acting school. He assured fans that he is serious about improving his craft and preparing for future roles.
With his growing dedication to acting and his openness to working with his father, it seems Grae Fernandez is ready to make even bigger strides in his career.
