BINI member Maloi Ricalde has issued a public apology following controversy over a video she reposted that was deemed offensive to people with disabilities (PWD).
The video, which Ricalde shared on TikTok, featured a man dancing in a manner that many perceived as mocking or imitating individuals with disabilities.
Ricalde’s comment on the video, “NAPATAWA MO AKO HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA,” drew significant backlash from netizens who criticized her for laughing at and sharing content that they felt was derogatory towards PWDs. The negative response quickly escalated on social media platforms, with users calling out the insensitivity of her actions.

In response to the criticism, Ricalde took to X (formerly Twitter) to apologize. She expressed remorse, stating, “Saw the tweets. I am deeply sorry. It will never be my intention to hurt anyone.” Ricalde pledged to be more mindful in the future, emphasizing her respect for all individuals. “I respect everyone regardless of who and what they are. I will be more careful next time,” she added.
Ricalde also thanked those who provided constructive feedback, saying, “Thank you to those who educated me nicely. I appreciate you all.”
