“Pasahero”, a riveting movie about a crime committed inside a train with seven witnesses on board, is coming to cinemas this October. From the prolific cult director Roman Perez, Jr., it stars Louise delos Reyes, Yumi Garcia, Katya Santos, Mark Anthony Fernandez, Andre Yllana, Keann Johnson, Rafa Siguion-Reyna, Dani Zee and Bea Binene.
Michelle (Louise delos Reyes), a simple girl from the province and a newly grad, isoptimistic about starting a new life in Manila. But, during her late night commuteinthe city, she gets molested by a masked man, and none of her fellowpassengerscomes to the rescue.
She becomes a victim of bystander apathy or bystander effect, a social psychological theory that states that individuals are less likely to help whenothers are present. One of the onlookers is Angel (Bea Binene), a graphic and visual artist who has manyonline followers.
She’s been orphaned at a very young age, and because of atraumatic event, she promised to never help anyone again. Then, there is Trina (Katya Santos), a single mother to a 10-year-old girl, Belle, (Dani Zee) who is also aboard the train.
Trina is aware that Michelle is in trouble, but her fear of endangering her daughter makes her turn a blind eye. If there’s anyone capable of saving Michelle, it’s Tom (Mark Anthony Fernandez), aformer boxer.
Now, he trains young boxers for a living, so he still has the strengthand agility to fight. But, seeing the masked rapist, Tom just freezes on the spot.
Instead of teaming up together to take on the masked man, Martin (Andre Yllana), Alvin (Keann Johnson), and their friend Drea (Yumi Garcia), a socialite, just chooseto engross themselves in their gadgets.
Alvin, a rich kid who brands himself ashumanitarian, and Martin, who thinks of himself as socially aware, prove themselvesno better than Tom. As the story continues, the consequences of the passengers’ inaction will be revealed. They will be haunted not just by their guilt, but by something sinister.
Even their loved ones are not spared. If they have failed Michelle once, can this group of people still make up for it andgive Michelle the justice she deserves?
