Basti Artadi boycotts Wolfgang vinyl release over low royalties

Wolfgang’s Basti Artadi has announced his decision to boycott the upcoming vinyl pressing of their self-titled album, slated for release by Ivory and Vicor.

Lead vocalist Basti Artadi expressed his disappointment on Instagram, revealing that the band will earn only P2.40 for each P1,900 vinyl sold.

Artadi explained that this paltry sum would have to be divided among the band members, meaning they would collectively receive just P600 if the record company sells P1,900,000 worth of albums.

He criticized the ongoing issue of low royalties in the music industry, stating, “2024 and this is the type of stuff that still goes on today when honestly there is enough to go around if people weren’t so greedy.”

Looking ahead, Artadi announced plans to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the album next year, which was originally released in 1995. “I have plans, if you can wait I will make it worth your while and the band would appreciate it because we will finally get paid for fighting to put that album out,” he added.

Basti Artadi is well-known as the lead singer of Wolfgang, a band that gained prominence in the early 1990s with their hard rock and heavy metal sound. Wolfgang has made a significant impact on the Filipino music scene, achieving multiple critically acclaimed albums and platinum record sales.

After a hiatus in the early 2000s, the band reunited in 2007, and Artadi continues to captivate audiences with his energetic performances.
