Former ’90s sexy star and “Papaya Queen” Aya Medel recently revealed that she is a brain aneurysm survivor.
In a heartfelt post on Facebook, the actress-turned-chef opened up about her health battle and shared her gratitude for a second chance at life.
Medel, now a restaurant owner, posted a photo of herself confined at Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan, detailing her months-long absence from social media.
“I am back… Many people are wondering what happened to me, why I suddenly stopped posting, talking to people, and why I was gone for months. Yes! I had a brain aneurysm, but I survived,” she shared.
She acknowledged being one of the “lucky few” who survived the condition and expressed her deep appreciation for the opportunity to continue living.
“I know that I am one of the lucky few, and the day-to-day isn’t always so easy. But I plan to live my life to the fullest. My heart is filled with gratitude. Thank you to all of you. Thank you, Lord, for giving me another chance to live. And yes, I am back,” Medel wrote.
Aya Medel rose to fame in the 1990s for her roles in erotic films, earning her the moniker “Papaya Queen.” After stepping away from showbiz, she pursued a successful career in culinary arts and now runs her own restaurant.
