The series is planned to be made available on major television networks, as well as radio networks, and online.
The arrival of the upcoming advocacy series, WPS (West Philippine Sea), could not be any more relevant, today, as it talks about, the disputed islands, themselves. Hoping to impart timely message, and debunk fake news allegedly being spread by the Chinese government, the series is starred by some familiar names and will also feature up and coming young stars.
During the press conference for the series, held last Tuesday, September 17, at Max’s Restaurant in Sct. Borromeo cor. EDSA, Quezon City, the producers and the cast members talked about the film with impassioned eagerness.
“Gusto naming pukawin ang nationalism at patriotism sa issue ng West Philippine Sea, na actually, sa totoo lang, atin ‘yan, “ shared Dr. Michael Raymond A. Aragon, who is the Chairman of the Kapisanan ng Mga Social Media Broadcasters sa Pilipinas (KSMBP Inc.). He is also the producer of this project.
Ayanna Misola, who made a name via a number of Vivamax films, hopes this new project will give her a refreshing new image, far from the sexy one her Vivamax tenure gave her.
“Gusto ko talagang makapag-change ng image talaga. Before pa kami makasuhan ni Boss Mike, di ba? Tumigil na talaga ako. Ngayon, si Boss Vic (del Rosario) din talaga ang nagbigay sa akin ng opportunity na ipakita talaga namin, na kaya mag-change image“, she revealed.
Brazilian actress and TV host, Daiana Meneses, agrees that the project is timely and relevant. “Abangan nyo dahil sanay kayong makita akong kwela, very (funny) di ba…pero dito iba. Excited na akong maging part ng isang advocacy project, kasi yan ang maganda, kailangan natin ng awareness“.
Seasoned actor, Jeric Raval, noted his frequent appearances in advocacy movies and series, sharing his gratitude for being cast in WPS.
“Nata-typecast ako lagi sa mga advocacy film—hindi nyo ba napansin, kapag advocacy film, present ako?, ” he told the press.
The series will also notably feature real-life brothers, Rannie Raymundo and Lance Raymundo, Vivamax actor, Massimo Scofield, PBB alumnae and former beauty queen, Ali Forbes, and young actress, Jerica Madrigal.
According to Dr. Michael Aragon, himself, the series will commence taping as soon as October 1. He revealed that he’s already in talks with some major TV channels to make the series available to bigger audiences.
