Veteran actress Snooky Serna recently revealed personal struggles during an interview with Morly Alinio on the YouTube channel ‘Ito ang Tondo,’ where she candidly discussed her past self-destructive behavior, including getting multiple tattoos.
Serna, who has been in the public eye since her youth, admitted that her decision to get tattoos was driven by deeper emotional pain.
“Nagpa-tattoo ako, ang daming tattoo sa likod ko, I’m not against self-expression walang basagan ng trip. Kung gusto mong magpa-tattoo for the right reasons do it it’s not like you murdered someone no!,” she stated, making it clear that while she supports self-expression, her own experience was tied to guilt and self-punishment.
The actress explained that her tattoos were a form of self-mutilation, an attempt to cope with feelings of guilt. “Siguro it’s form of self-mutilation na sinaktan ko ang sarili ko because I was guilty of something na hindi ko na maayos. And no matter how I knew alam ko namang intelihente ako and baka nga ginusto kong ma-feel ‘yung pain na ‘yun to make up for the pain that I cost my children,” Serna confessed.
Serna also touched on how this decision has affected her over time. Now, she regrets her tattoos and has considered laser removal, but she decided against it due to the pain involved. This has posed challenges for her in maintaining a polished appearance at formal events, although she credits her stylist for successfully covering the tattoos.
In a lighter moment, Serna joked about her tattoos, comparing them to those of gang members. “Yung tattoo ko kasi pag titingnan mo parang sumali ng Sigue-Sigue (Sputnik). Ha-hahaha!,” she said with a laugh, referencing a notorious gang.
Despite her regrets, Serna noted that she does not regret two of her tattoos, which depict images of her parents. “May dalawa lang akong hindi pinagsisisihan, ‘yung picture ng mom and dad ko, Tito Morly,” she shared.
The interview also hinted at more revelations to come, as Serna is expected to discuss her reaction to the recent imprisonment of her ex-husband, Ricardo Cepeda, in the next installment of the interview.
