Kapuso star Sandro Muhlach has taken legal action against two independent contractors of GMA Network, Jojo Tawasil Nones and Richard “Dode” Cruz, by filing rape charges at the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The move follows an investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), where Sandro initially lodged his complaint.
Accompanied by his father, veteran actor Niño Muhlach, and their legal counsel, Sandro personally submitted the complaint of rape through sexual assault against the two contractors.
NBI officials and two witnesses, who reportedly have vital information to support Sandro’s allegations, were also present during the filing.
“Finally, umabot na kami sa araw na ito na we’re finally filing a case and onwards. Siyempre magkakaroon na ng mga court hearing and siguro soon makakamit rin namin ‘yung justice, which Sandro deserves,” Niño Muhlach said in a statement to the media.
He also shared the emotional burden his son has been carrying since the alleged incident, noting that Sandro has struggled with eating and sleeping due to the trauma.
“Parang nakaluwang-luwang sa dibdib dahil umabot na tayo sa araw na ito. Ang bigat kasi nakikita mo ‘yung anak mo araw-araw na nagsa-suffer, di makakain, di makatulog.”
During a recent Senate hearing, Niño revealed that the ordeal has had a significant psychological impact on Sandro, necessitating professional treatment.
In addition to the rape charges, Sandro’s legal counsel, Atty. Czarina Raz, confirmed that the two contractors are also facing multiple counts of acts of lasciviousness.
