GMA Network’s highly anticipated historical drama series ‘Pulang Araw’ premiered this week. How did it perform in the TV ratings?
According to the latest Nielsen NUTAM People survey, ‘Pulang Araw’ had a strong start in the ratings, although it did not surpass its Kapamilya rival “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo (FPJBQ).”
On its pilot episode on Monday, July 29, ‘Pulang Araw’ earned a rating of 12.8 percent, placing third on the overall ratings board. FPJBQ, however, maintained its number one position with a rating of 16.8 percent.
Compared to its predecessor, ‘Black Rider’, ‘Pulang Araw’ showed slight improvement, earning 0.7 percent higher ratings than ‘Black Rider’s’ pilot rating of 12.1 percent.
Although ‘Pulang Araw’ did not top the ratings chart, it achieved success on streaming platforms, climbing to the number one spot on Netflix’s top 10 TV programs. ‘Pulang Araw’ aired in advance on Netflix, premiering on Friday, July 26.
Set in the war-torn Philippines during the Japanese occupation, ‘Pulang Araw’ stars premier Kapuso actors Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, Alden Richards, and Dennis Trillo. The story follows Eduardo (Richards), Adelina (Forteza), Teresita (Lopez), and Hiroshi (Licauco) as they navigate their lives during World War II.
