The big-budgeted Kapuso series continues to perform poorly in the ratings game, but remains a strong show on Netflix Philippines.
Pulang Araw extends its winning streak on Netflix Philippines, as it remains in the Top 5, despite its continuous slide since losing the no.1 spot. The series first dropped to third slot, before returning to second, and to third again, before descending further to fourth. Will it ever bounce back? Netizens notice such a drop happened at a time when the episodes featuring the highly-promoted ‘Pearl Harbor’ scene and the arrival of Dennis Trillo’s character, were made available.
Since pilot episode, Pulang Araw has struggled to inch closer to its rival Kapamilya series, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, whose viewership remains twice as high as Pulang Araw, as far as total ratings are concerned. But that seems to be no longer GMA Network’s only problem, as the show is now showing signs of losing grip on its Netflix audience.
And now that a new Kapamilya show, Lavender Fields, will soon debut on Netflix, as well, will it be able to keep, let alone improve its standing, on Netflix?
Kapuso head writer, has already pleaded to viewers to also check out their free TV airing. “Ayos lang na manood kayo ng Pulang Araw sa Netflix, pero nood din sa TV ha! Kahit buksan nyo lang” she said in a post.
Lead actress, Barbie Forteza, meanwhile expressed the joy of watching the series real-time on primetime TV. “Iba pa rin talaga pag sa GMA Prime ka nanood! Alam mo na we’re all watching the same scenes at the same time!” she told her fans.
Pulang Araw continues to air on GMA Prime on GMA Network, at 8:00 PM, with delayed telecast on GTV at 9:40 PM.
