Actress and comedian Pokwang may be on the verge of a new romantic chapter after her appearance on the ‘EXpecially for You’ segment of the noontime show ‘It’s Showtime.’
The beloved entertainer, who has been single for three years, participated as a searcher on the show on Saturday, August 17, where she ultimately chose Richard, a chef, as her date.
Pokwang was accompanied by her eldest daughter, Mae, who supported her mother in selecting from three potential matches.
When asked by host Vice Ganda what prompted her to join the segment, Pokwang jokingly replied, “Nire-renovate kasi ‘yung bahay. Wala kaming upuan.” She then shared a more heartfelt reason, saying, “I’m a fan of this segment, and of course, I want to experience something new in life.”
Mae revealed that she had been encouraging her mother to find companionship, expressing, “Para sa akin talaga, mas gusto kong tumanda siya nang may makakasama.”

During the segment, Pokwang also touched on her past relationship with American actor Lee O’Brian, the father of her youngest daughter, Malia. Without directly mentioning his name, Pokwang referred to him as “Chururut Bumblebee” and reflected on the pain of their breakup. “Pasong-paso ako,” she admitted, but added, “Sometimes, God has a way of bringing people together. If there’s love, there’s hope; if there’s hope, there’s love.”
When questioned about the possibility of dating a foreigner again, Pokwang humorously stated, “Kailangan kumpleto ang papeles,” alluding to O’Brian’s deportation case.
The segment took an emotional turn as Pokwang and Mae discussed the challenges they faced during the previous relationship. Mae shared how she initially felt distant from O’Brian but eventually set aside her reservations for her mother’s happiness. Despite the hardships, the mother-daughter duo emphasized that they have found joy again and restored the close bond they shared before.
In the end, Pokwang selected Richard, a chef, as her date, signaling the potential start of a new and exciting phase in her life.
