Actress Julia Barretto has expressed immense pride in her boyfriend, Gerald Anderson, following his heroic actions during Typhoon Carina.
Anderson gained widespread attention after he was seen swimming through floodwaters to help evacuate a stranded family in Barangay Sto. Domingo, Quezon City.
In a recent interview with MJ Marfori, Barretto shared her feelings of both pride and concern for Anderson.
“It’s a proud moment, of course, but I was really worried. By nature, that’s who he is. I just hope he will be safe doing that for others. It’s a proud moment, but ang hirap grabe ‘yung worries ko,” she said.
Anderson’s brave act during Typhoon Carina is not his first involvement in rescue efforts. In September 2009, during Typhoon Ondoy, he also participated in rescue operations. Dr. Divine Rosales-Murao, a neighbor, recalled Anderson’s efforts during that time. “Gerald tried to check on us since he knows I have three small kids with me, plus the house staff. The whole ground floor of our house was affected by the water. He came back with Cesar Montano and Bayani Agbayani to check on more neighbors,” she recounted.

Barretto highlighted Anderson’s genuine kindness, stating, “Whatever you see, that’s the heart he has.”
The couple, who have been dating for over three years, have a strong and supportive relationship. Anderson has recently mentioned in interviews that he sees Barretto as his future wife. His actions during crises like Typhoon Carina further exemplify his commitment to helping others and his strong character.
