Actor Gerald Anderson has recently garnered attention for his commendable efforts during disaster relief operations, but he remains firm in his stance against entering the political arena.
In a media interview on Wednesday for his upcoming series ‘Nobody,’ Anderson clarified that while he is grateful for the recognition, he has no intention of pursuing a political career. The Kapamilya actor believes that his current platform as a celebrity is already sufficient for making a positive impact.
“Nakakatulong naman tayo and I’m so blessed. I’m so blessed na nandito kayo. 19 years na rin ako sa industriya grabe ang tulong ng media sa akin, for my shows, for my projects. Okay na ako sa ganito because I still have the opportunity para makatulong sa iba,” Anderson shared.
He emphasized the importance of using his celebrity status responsibly, saying, “Also, isa sa mga motivation ko is to work harder to maintain or to keep my celebrity status kasi ang laking tulong niya talaga and as much as possible ginagamit ko nang tama.”
Anderson’s humanitarian work recently went viral when he was spotted braving floodwaters in Quezon City to rescue a stranded family during Typhoon Carina. His actions earned him the Search and Rescue Medal from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), where he serves as an Auxiliary Commander. The medal was presented by PCG Commandant, Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan, in recognition of his bravery.
In addition to his real-life heroics, Anderson will soon return to television with the Kapamilya series ‘Nobody,’ a project that he says will portray the stories of true heroes. Despite his own acts of heroism, Anderson remains humble, choosing to focus on his work in the entertainment industry and his contributions to society through his platform.
Anderson will also participate in a basketball exhibition game this Sunday in Davao City, part of a series of events organized by Star Magic for Kapamilya fans.
